Chi Nei Tsang: Internal Organ Rejuvenation
By Shanti Dechen
Ancient
Taoists realized that negative emotions can cause serious
damage to one’s health; impairing physical, mental,
and emotional functions. The Taoists understood that each
human emotion is an expression of energy, and that certain
emotions could be the negative energy behind many physical
aliments. They also identified a specific cycle of relationships
between the emotions and the internal organs. For example,
the experience of a “knot” in one’s stomach
indicates the presence of worry, since this negative emotion
accumulates in the stomach and spleen. Tensions, worries
and stresses of the day are often not dispersed and accumulate
in the internal organs and glands. These disturbances can
cause physical tangling and knotting of the nerves, blood
vessels and lymph nodes. The result is the gradual obstruction
of energy flow through the meridians, circulatory, lymphatic
and nerve flows to the internal organs.
The
Taoist’s also discovered that most maladies can be
healed once the underlying toxins and negative forces are
released from the body. Chi, the life force energy, moves
through the body’s internal meridian channels, nervous
system, blood vessels and lymph glands. All these systems
concentrate and cross paths in the abdomen, which acts
as their control center. Chi Nei Tsang (pronounced Chee
Ney Song) is a branch of Taoist medicine, introduced in
the West by Taoist Master Mantak Chia. Chi Nei Tsang clears
out these negative energies that obstruct the internal
organs and cause knots in the abdomen; it quickly and effectively
transforms these tensions, toxins, emotions, and congestion,
excesses, deficiencies, heat and cold that create dysfunction
in the organs and related systems back into vitality. Once
an area of stress is restored, renewed and revived and
the energy can smoothly flow into its channels and vessels,
the body, mind and spirit are well on their way to healing
themselves.
The
Five Element Theory is the basic foundation of Chi Nei
Tang. A practitioner observes the face, tongue and pulses
to determine imbalances. A Chi Nei Tsang session uses the
techniques of acupressure and hands-on palpation of the
abdomen, and works with each individual organ to clear
away negative emotions, toxins and congestions. This process
may also include working with the circulatory, lymphatic,
digestive, and reproductive and nervous systems. As an
added benefit, practitioners routinely prescribe and teach
Chi Kung exercises so that clients can strengthen their
physical and Chi bodies through home self-care practice.
Chi Nei Tsang practitioners do not simply teach these techniques,
but, through their own Chi Kung accomplishments, are capable
of generating and directing vital force through and around
others.
The main philosophy and purpose of Chi Nei Tsang is to teach
people how to heal
themselves by providing insights into their own immense healing
powers. One must always
remember that the most important healing comes from within
oneself.
